DOLPHINS & WHALESBeing near these incredible creatures is beyond description. Seeing them play, hearing their sounds, and feeling their peaceful freedom is a joy. Many call it "life altering."
Boat excursions aboard the Moki Mary with Captain Douglas are highly recommended: www.anelanaia.com

A private guide truly makes the difference. Those who live near and in the valley have a special respect for the aina (spirit of the land), and know it like no others, so a local guide is highly recommended.
Going by 4-wheel drive vehicle into the valley, they drive by taro fields where rivers become roads, see sacred waterfalls, and then travel out to the ocean where group tours are unable to go. Be met by wild horses, ancient spirits, and immerse yourself in an exquisitely lush, and beautiful paradise. It's an unforgettable, tropical jungle adventure.

You can enjoy this extraordinary phenomenon as a guided adventuire.
You may be a curiosity seeker or amateur geologist. Some are photographers of all levels, seekers of adventure, National Park buffs, hikers, historians, writers, artists, and wine connoisseurs (yes!). Or spiritual seekers looking for depth, discovery, and sacred ceremony. And there are humble "locals", who are called back time and time again.
If you wish to go on you own, don't miss the informational videos at the Volcano National Park Headquarters. Call ahead to ask the park rangers about "flow" activity, and begin your descent down the chain of Craters Road by 5 PM. The lava is best seen at night. Take water, flashlights, and wear sneakers. (If you have respiratory difficulties of any kind, it may be best to avoid this trip).
